I even opened the case to check for loose wires and didn't see anything wrong there. The heater wires are exposed just before entering the core, but I've seen others like this. I've checked all of the wires and nothing looks out of order based on the pictures I've seen online. It continued through two test prints and I'm not printing anymore until I get it worked out. This was before I had installed any filament and before I had ever heated the bed. It occurred first when I heated just the hotend to test how quickly it could reach temp. It honestly smells like plastic burning, very fume-like. It's not an electronic burning smell (I'm very familiar with that smell). It's almost unbearable when you're within 5 feet of the machine. I set up my new CR-10S yesterday and I'm getting a burning smell from the hotend that starts at around 150.
